Baseball Overview - Eastern Hills Little League

Kindergarten Boys & Girls 6U Baseball (Coach Pitch/T-Ball)

6U is the most basic level of play for our kids. There are no umpires at this age, and a score is not kept. Play at this level is meant to encourage the kids of both teams and to make sure everyone is having fun. Typically, this age will have 1 weekday practice and play 8-10 games.

1st / 2nd grade 8U Baseball (Kid/Coach Pitch)

8U is still a basic level of play for our kids. There is one umpire at this age and a score is kept. Typically, this age will have 1 or 2 weekday practices and play 10-12 games.

3rd / 4th grade 10U Baseball (Kid Pitch)

10U is an intermediate level of play for our kids. There is one umpire at this age and a score is kept. Pitch counts are strictly enforced and all other Little League rules (e.g. stealing) apply. Typically, this age will have 2 weekday practices and play 12-14 games.

5th / 6th grade 12U Baseball (Kid Pitch)

12U is Little League Baseball. We generally play with the same rules that you see on ESPN during the Little League World Series. There may be one or two umpire at this age and a score is kept. Pitch counts are strictly enforced.  Typically, this age will have 2 or 3 weekday practices and play 12-14 games.

Baseball Little League Rules:

Softball Overview - Eastern Hills League

8U Softball (Coach Pitch)

This is a Coach Pitch league. Use of Batting Tee is discouraged. A "flat pitch" is encouraged as it is easier to hit and it better replicates the pitches players will see later in fast pitch. An umpire at this age is not needed and score is not kept. Play at this level is meant to encourage the kids of both teams and to make sure everyone is having fun. Typically, this age will have 1 or 2 weekday practices and play 10-12 games. There are usually 2 weekend games and 1 weekday game per week.

9U Softball (Kid/Coach Pitch)

A player pitcher may pitch no more than 2 innings. There are no walks. The Coach pitcher for the batting team enters the game after the opposing team's pitcher throws her 3rd "ball". There is one umpire at this age and a score is kept. Typically, this age will have 1 or 2 weekday practices and play 10-12 games. There are usually 2 weekend games and 1 weekday game per week.

10U Softball (Kid/Coach Pitch)

A player pitcher may pitch no more than 3 innings, and two (2) walks are permitted per inning. Following the 2 walks in an inning, the Coach pitcher for the batting team enters the game after the opposing team's pitcher throws her 4th "ball". There may be one or two umpires at this age and a score is kept. Typically, this age will have 2 weekday practices and play 12-14 games. There are usually 2 weekend games and 1 weekday game per week.

12U Softball (Kid Pitch)

Follows the USSSA playing rules. There may be one or two umpires at this age and a score is kept. Typically, this age will have 2or 3 weekday practices and play 12-14 games. There are usually 2 weekend games and 1 weekday game per week.
